Morning pick up from Cairo hotel then drive by a modern air-conditioned van to Wadi El-Natrun, the birthplace for Christian monasticism. There were about 50 monasteries but only 4 have survived into current times. Start your trip with Deir al-Baramus, the oldest of the existing monasteries. then continue to Deir Anba Bishoi whose body is still in the monastery. Proceed your tour to Deir Abu Maqar, the richest monastery in Wadi El-Natrun, there are more than 100 monks and 600 workers living in the extensive farm surrounding it. End your day with Deir El-Suryani, the smallest and most compact of the 4 monasteries before driving back to Cairo.
